Dawn Days

About

Dawn days was born from a phone call with Friend and fellow Photographer Nick Pumphrey. He declared at the end of a call on the last day of April that he was going to swim out each morning at the blue hour and shoot till sunrise. As so it was born. The simple act of putting on the wetsuit and shooting, whatever the weather or conditions, no plan, no client to tell you what to do, just to simply observe nature for what it is at the start of each day.

The sea and my interaction with it have become integral in my life. It took me years to truly understand quite how special it is to me. At the time, nothing else has mattered.  I became obsessed - so obsessed that I would drop everything to go surfing. If I'm honest that is still the case at times and I'm ok with that. Over time I have learned to calm that fire inside because of  the nature of my work and life as I'm often away from the sea for long periods.

But I've also realised how good it is to be away from the sea. Be it in the mountains with a bike or walking and even working. When I get back to the sea, it's like I fall in love with it all over again. I believe it’s often useful to be away from what and who you love to grasp the depth of what you have.

Join me on this journey, along with Nick. Send it to your friends and family.

I hope it gives you some joy and it gives you some moment to drift way and imagine you are  a seal or selkie as we say in Scots. Feel it, taste it imagine yourself in it. Be the sea. And have fun.
