Day 30: 30th May
Rolling out the flat for the second last time rumbling over the cobblestones past Barry’s
This time I’m just in a T-shirt and my wetsuit around my waist but at the start of may I was in a down jacket and ski gloves.
As I came down to the Esplanade I see the sad reality of yesterday’s busy beach. Normal service resumes, am I surprised, sadly not?. I make my way east through Musselburgh and a police car comes racing towards me along the cycle path. They stop - as do I. We are eyeing each other up and they obviously realise I’m not who or what they’re looking for.
Then a second cop car pulled up in front of me and the window winds down -“Excuse me, what are you doing and are you okay?”. “I’m fine” I tell them and explain what I’ve been doing. Their faces relax and they smile “oh nice”. I asked them how the night had been - the female cop looks at me “horrible - worst night in a long time”. Goodbyes are said and I head off.
Must’ve been some hell of a job to be a cop during all of this and it’s still not over.
